Twitter Is Adding "Newsletters" After Acquiring Revue

Twitter Is Adding "Newsletters" After Acquiring Revue

by Malika Karoum / Friday, 29 January 2021 / Published in Malika Karoum Global News

Just days after acquiring newsletter subscription service Revue, Twitter already has plans to utilize its acquisition. This means that you’ll be able to use newsletters to reach out to your followers in a whole new way.

Twitter Has Been Quick to Add Revue’s Features

According to Jane Manchun Wong, a popular tech blogger known for uncovering features that have yet to launch, Twitter has already started to integrate newsletters within its website.

It’s only been two days since Twitter acquired Revue, a platform for creating and managing email newsletter subscriptions.

The reverse engineer took to Twitter to announce her findings:

In Wong’s first Tweet on the subject, she shows a promotional popup in development. It encourages you to try Revue if you’re looking to monetize your online presence or are searching for other ways to connect with your audience.

Revue will introduce Twitter users to a number of new features, such as the ability to create and schedule newsletters, embed Tweets, look over engagement data, and earn money from your followers.

What’s more, it seems that Newsletters will show up on your Twitter’s sidebar navigation. Right next to Bookmarks, Moments, Twitter Ads, and so on.

It’s worth noting that at the time of writing, all of these findings only apply to the Twitter website.

Wong informed TechCrunch that she has yet to find anything on the Twitter mobile apps that indicate Revue is being integrated.

Social Media Platforms Join the News Market

Given how quickly social media moves and how vast its audience has become in the current digital era, some might say that it’s about time that social media muscled in on the news industry.

On January 25, Twitter launched Birdwatch, a community-driven approach to addressing fake news. You can now sign up to help the platform identify misinformed or potentially misleading information.

Meanwhile, Facebook is handling moderation of news content in a different way. The app first tried to launch a News tab in 2018.

While the feature had to be temporarily removed to fix some problems with the algorithm, its launch in the US has been otherwise successful. And earlier this week, Facebook brought the News tab to the UK.

Will You Send Newsletters on Twitter?

The features that Revue adds to Twitter probably won’t be used by your average person, but they are nevertheless great additions to the service.

We don’t yet know when Twitter will officially roll these features out, but if you’re looking to build an audience online, you have many reasons to look out for when it does.
