Xgimi’s New Horizon Projectors Bring 4K for Under $2,000

Xgimi’s New Horizon Projectors Bring 4K for Under $2,000

If you’re looking to add ultra high definition to your entertainment experience, then Xgimi may well have the answer, as it releases its new Horizon-series home projectors.

Xgimi Debuts Horizon and Horizon Pro Home Projectors

Xgimi has added 4K to its range of portable and home speakers, as it reveals the latest laser TVs in its line-up; the Horizon and Horizon Pro.

The 2021 flagship models are available for pre-order from April 19th, 2021. The Horizon will cost $ 1,099 on release, while the Horizon Pro will cost $ 1,699. The Xgimi will be available from Xgimi, as well as a range of third-party retailers such as Amazon.

For more information and details on how to pre-order one of the new Horizon projectors, just head to Xgimi.com. The projectors won’t launch until May, so some specs may change prior to the final product release.

Horizon and Horizon Pro Add 4K to the Xgimi Projector Range

The Horizon and Horizon Pro projectors are both capable of 4K output. The Horizon has a native 1080p resolution, using Xgimi’s own image tech to improve the output quality, essentially upscaling it to a 4K image. In the press release, Xgimi says:

XGIMI’s patented X-VUE image technology enhances the image quality, by adopting 120Hz motion compensation technology that works with XGIMI’s MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation) to solve any potential image flutter or tailing problems…

The Horizon Pro has a native 4K resolution. No upscaling here, just pure 4K in all of its high-definition goodness. This is the first of Xgimi’s projectors with a native 4K output, so is quite the milestone for the brand.

The Horizon Pro can also project an image up to 300 inches diagonally. In case you hadn’t guessed, that is massive. If the Horizon Pro can hold a 4K image at that size, then Xgimi may well be on to a winner.

Add to that the fact that you can get hold of one for less than $ 1,700 and, on paper at least, you’ve got yourself a real bargain. True 4K projectors tend not to be this affordable, with cheaper alternatives instead relying on pixel shifting tech to improve image quality.

What Other Features Do the Horizon Projectors Have?

Well, for a start, you get audio courtesy of Harman Kardon. The built-in Bluetooth speakers can produce up to 16 Watts, so they’ll be loud enough to fill your room with sound from movies or music streaming platforms like Tidal and Spotify.

The projectors also come pre-loaded with Android TV 10.0, giving you the most up-to-date Android TV experience, with access to over 5,000 apps.

Protip: you can run Nvidia GeForce Now on Android TV 10.0 devices, so you can game away with a Bluetooth controller in your hands. Just grab the GeForce Now app from the Google Play store, log into your account, and you’re ready to game.

Will You Be Ordering a Horizon Projector?

If so, at $ 1,699, the Horizon Pro looks like a very attractive offer. Currently, you’d be hard-pushed to find another true 4K projector on the market that offers a 300 inch image, with a brightness of 2,200 ANSI lumens, and running Android TV 10.0, for under $ 2,000, let alone $ 1,700.

As always, though, it is good to shop around. So, if you are on the market for a new projector, make sure you check out all the options available and ensure you’ve picked the right projector for your space. Not everyone can fit a projector in their lounge, which is when it becomes time to consider the throw ratio of the device in question.
